The background.....
Setting up Gurukuls is one of the prime agenda of Vedic Gyan Sanrakshan Trust. The thought of this project came during a discussion between some Acharya (teachers) and passed out Gurukul scholars. The discussion was on challenges faced by a Gurukul student once he completes his studies and has to move out of Gurukul. He has to face fast moving world and find a means of living. He finds himself far behind in modern education and communication (Sanskrit and Hindi being the only known languages). He is not prepared for any competitive exams for further studies or job. There are many Gurukuls running in India. Some are renowned and have achieved a lot in their field but most of them lack in this area. We won’t blame them because they do what they are supposed to do. Also, earlier there were 1134 shakhas of Ved and now only 9 are left. Of them, very few are being taught in northern India. Asht-vikrati education (higher vedic education) is also not getting due importance in North India.
The vision
All these thoughts gave us a vision to establish a gurukul to provide a blend of Vedic education (primary to higher in all the 9 veda shakhas) & modern education and consequently prepare students to readily adapt world environment. Such an education will build a strong nationalist character having skills to infuse the message of peace/harmony in society and remove all the disbelief regarding Sanatan Dharma empowering them to bring a much needed change in society, consequently in the whole world.
This is where our Gurukul will make a difference. And the best part is that we won’t charge students. Project will be funded by donations and child sponsorship.
The areas which we will cover include but are not limited to…..
Knowledge of Ved
Modern Educaion
Foreign Languages
Yoga
Music
KArm Kand
Personality Development
General Affairness
Self DEfence
Sports
ObjectiveS....
- To empower children with vedic as well as modern education.
- To provide young, multi-talented, well-aware, well-educated and dynamic intellectuals to society who can easily adapt to any environment, industry, profession and can become ideals in their respective fields
- To become a benchmark of educational institutions.
- To become a channel (medium) of vedic-knowledge flow for all seekers.
- To preserve and make accessible the learnings of Ved, Upnishads etc.
- To empower Vedic Scholars with modern education.
Removing corruption and make a better society is our indirect objective. We have a firm believe that if well-educated and honest people having knowledge of Indian ancient heritage lead important positions in private and public sector then corruption will reduce and eventually, in long run, whole human society will gain.
The building.....
We have an aim to construct a Gurukul Campus for +200 students and +40 staff. We have already constructed bare minimum infrastructure (a kitchen, a room and utilities) for our current team and have shifted there in Sept.22.
Considering the aim that we are targeting and the kind of facilities we want to provide, we still need to build a Computer Room, Library, Store rooms, Dining hall, Office room, Class rooms, Student’s residence, teacher’s residence, Working staff rooms, Utilities, Gober gas plant, Solar Power Gaushala stores and more.
We want to create a self dependent model for Gurukuls having Gober (cow-dunk), solar power and a green campus. and that’s we have decided to use minimum land for construction and use the rest of the land for growing, vegetables fruits, flowers and food for our cows.
The journey so far.....
We started the gurukul on a rented place in Jun.’19, shifted it a couple of times and faced unprecedented challenges like Covid19, but we never stopped since then. At present, 20 students are getting free residential vedic education in Rig Ved and Yajur Ved.
After an experience of about 2.5 years, we raised funds to purchased land in Gopramau, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh (click to locate on Google Map) and started construction of campus for +200 students. Two phases of construction, which includes Gaushala having 22 Desi Gir cows, one kitchen, one room and utilities, has already been completed and our team has shifted there in Sept. ‘22.
